I have enjoyed working as an individual counsellor/psychotherapist and couple counsellor for over 27 years in a variety of settings including primary care, private practice and higher education.
With extensive experience in mental health and primary care settings as both a social work assistant and GP counsellor I have worked with a diverse population and am committed to equal opportunities and respect for difference. For the last 15 years I have worked in a senior position counselling both students and staff within a university counselling service, in recent years serving as Clinical Lead to manage and run the service.
Having originally trained with Relate as a couple counsellor in 1984 and then as a Relate supervisor, I have long-standing couple counselling and supervision experience as both an individual and a group supervisor in a variety of organisations. As a Lecturer in Counselling between 1994 and 2000 I taught certificate and diploma level courses as well as facilitating personal development groups. I have also worked with counselling students who have commitment to personal therapy and wish to explore and understand themselves better.
Working as an EAP affiliate for many years and also in the university setting, I am experienced and skilled in providing time limited support. My early psychodynamic training also underpins the work I do with people wishing to work for longer periods of time where perhaps early conflict or trauma still impacts on their daily lives.
I offer couples counselling, individual counselling and supervision in Salisbury, Wiltshire.
